You begin as the captain of the Ship. As the captain, you control where your crew goes. Additionally the captain is the one who interacts with Treasure Chests or Trees on islands or Ships. Control the Captain using the left mouse button. When the captain dies it is usually game over, the only way around this is by purchasing the first mate skill and giving it to another crew mate. When a crew mate has the first mate skill they will become the captain when the original is deceased.
